Bodily Practices

About Bodily Practices in Body&Mind System

The main objective of bodily practices is to improve physical condition. Make your body strong, flexible. To relieve pain, muscle clamps and to teach the ease of movement. To balance these conditions in the best way for you.

Given your physiological characteristics and needs. Because not all people need to be equally strong or flexible.

The philosophy of bodily practices is NOT to become very flexible, or very strong. Not to teach, no matter what, to lay your foot behind your head or to stand on your hands.

The body is a tool for transmitting one’s inner needs in the outside world. And it should be strong and flexible just as much as you need today. In the Body & Mind system classes you will learn to feel your body and to give it what it needs, and not your Ego. The process is slow. In our system, slowness is the ability to track all ongoing changes. And if you know how to track your conditions, it means you can learn how to take them under control and manage them. This is a natural and conscious movement that occurs HERE and NOW.A variety of bodily approaches, makes it possible to find an approach to any person regardless of gender and age, it takes into account internal and physical needs.

PILATES in Body&Mind System

The real name of this school is CONTROLOGY. The creator of this system, Joseph Hubertus Pilates, chose the best of all known bodily practices in the world. As a child, he was a very weak boy, suffering from asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever. And it was the search for a way out of these diseases that caused the creation of this technique. Throughout his life, he always looked younger than he was and died at the age of 87 in a fire. After his death, 6 of his followers and best friends began to continue to develop his teaching. And I was lucky to attend seminars at one of his students – Katie Corey. After the First World War, he left for the USA where he opened his own studio. His school began to gain popularity. And while developing this system, Joseph Pilates was the first to introduce such concepts as Mind body and Wellness. The Pilates Principles are fundamental in all areas of the bodily practices that we use in the Body & Mind system. The main physiological objective of this technique is the health of the spine and joints. In the second place is strengthening of the muscular system.Intelligent control is what he teaches. This is a long work to eradicate harmful motor habits, it is the study of your body and communication with it

  Body-Ballet in Body&Mind System

This is a more commercial school designed for the fitness industry. But it has plenty of fans around the globe.
And this is not casual. In the description of the Pilates system, I said that after the World War I, Joseph Pilates went to America. There, with his wife Clara, he opened his own studio. The studio was in the building of the New York Ballet Center. And the first clients of this studio were ballet dancers, including Martha Graham and George Balanchine. Joseph Pilates has developed a special system for ballet dancers. But still, it was not a Body Ballet, it was Contrology considering the needs and characteristics of dancers. But I believe that the beginning was laid precisely here.

Body Ballet or Barre is a combination of the foundations of classical choreography, Yoga and Pilates. This system was invented by the German ballerina Lotte Burke. In an attempt to recover from her own trauma, she decided to combine rehabilitation therapy with dancing elements. However, it is important to note, with all its external similarities, Body-Ballet and ballet (classical choreography) are completely different disciplines. Body-Ballet is adapted to the physiological peculiarities of a person and has no age restrictions. The main task of the Body-Ballet is to make the body strong and flexible, to help develop the willpower, perseverance, determination, and therefore self-confidence. All movements are not only semantic, but also aesthetic. Always accompanied by beautiful music.I can say that in my work experience in fitness centers, it has always been my most visited class. Attending a Body-Ballet class, one will definitely experience emotions, everyone different ones, but no one will stay indifferent.

 Stretching in Body&Mind System

Each thought is accompanied by an emotion, and each emotion has its own focus in the body. The average number of thoughts that rush through our heads every day is 70,000. Even 100 years ago, this figure was 10 times less. Life in the modern world is full of stresses that are necessarily put off in our body in the form of blocks and clamps. We live in an era of mental activity with a sedentary lifestyle. How often at the end of the day do you experience pain in the neck or lower back, migraine, or simply a loss of vitality? I call this the “symptoms of a modern man.” Stretching method called post isometric relaxation will help to get rid of these symptoms.

“Post” – subsequent, “isometric” – work of the muscle without its anatomical shortening / lengthening. Post isometric muscle relaxation is a soft relaxation of the muscle after its tension (work) without change of its length. Which leads to stress relief and elimination of muscle clamps, the release of joint mobility.

This method has contraindications.

Somatics in Body&Mind System

Moshe Feldenkrais, a teacher of Thomas Hannah (the founder of this method), said: “Movement is life, and life is a process, and by improving the quality of this process, you will improve your life.”This is a special motor practice, the main purpose of which is to help a person realize his body during movement.A distinctive feature of this method is that during the execution of movements, a person should remain in a state of maximum comfort, putting a minimum of effort. All movements are natural. And each time repeating the movement, you examine it and your feelings, achieving maximum physical and mental relaxation.

There are two forms of this method:

  • individual (Functional integration) – during which the practitioner performs manual work with the client, thanks to the developed understanding and sensitivity, helping him to feel his body in a new way, supporting him in finding more optimal ways of movement and manifestation of complex functional changes at the level of the nervous system (movement is used as “Brain language”). I recommend that beginners go through a series of individual practices before joining classes in a group format.
  •     group (lessons of Awareness through movement) – during which the instructor voice guides those involved through specially designed series of movements on various topics with the same goals as in individual work. The movements are soft, slow, and are a discovery of what is usually done automatically.
